The classes for trademarks are divided into 45 different classes.
Class 1 – 34 are goods.
Class 35 – 45 are services.
Each trademark application will define which good or service the mark is identifying.
For instance, if the mark is identifying a cleaner for use on boats, then the class would be 003 or 3. If the mark is identifying downloadable mobile software for a mobile app then the class would be 009 or 9.
An application for a particular mark – can describe more than one good or service. For example, a mark can describe the physical object such as a mattress. Also, the same mark can describe the service of providing an online store to buy mattresses.
