Becoming a Client - Starting Work - Notification of Changes

1. Contact the Law Office

Contact by phone; sending a message on the homepage; or scheduling online an appointment for a phone call on the homepage.

2. Initial Phone Call

John Hudak will have a phone conversation with you to: determine if he can provide the legal services to you which you are asking for; explain the legal process for your patent, trademark, or copyright issues; and provide details about pricing.

3. Description of Legal Services and Attorney Client Relationship is Sent to the Potential Client

The Potential Client will receive an Description of Legal Services and Attorney Client Relationship document by email detailing: the initial legal services to be provided; and estimates to Attorney’s fees and government fees for future expected work.

4. Pre-Payment for the Initial Increment of Work

The Client will send pre-payment to the law office for the initial increment of work either: online with a credit card or electronic check; or a paper check physically written out and mailed or a paper check through bill pay from a bank account and the bank will mail a check. After pre-payment is received, the Potential Client will receive an Attorney Engagement Letter which describes that the Potential Client is formally a Client and there is an Attorney Client Relationship, where the Attorney is representing the Client for their legal issue.

5. Initial Increment of Work is Performed

The initial increment of work is performed to do an initial analysis of the facts of your legal issue (example: entering the invention or trademark idea into a government database for initial search result; and providing a brief analysis).

6. Interim Statement of Accounting Sent to the Client

If further work will be performed, then John Hudak will send a document called an Interim Statement of Accounting which details: (a) work which has already been performed; (b) what further work the Attorney and you the Client have decided needs to be performed; and (c) additional money required for that further legal work. If there is a change in the general plan for legal work – after a written plan is given to the Client in an Attorney Engagement Agreement or an Interim Statement of Accounting – that change will be told to the Client and sent in writing in an additional Interim Statement of Accounting

7. Additional Payment Sent to the Law Office

The Client will send further payment to the law office for the further work decided on after the initial increment of work is performed.

8. Completion of Further Work; On-going Work; Interim Statements of Accounting; and Additional Payments

As more work will be performed, at each step another Interim Statement of Accounting will be sent to the Client to define the additional money required and the work that will be performed - and further payment will be sent to the law office.
